Everbody Votes Channel on the Wii

There seems to be a lot of cynicism directed toward the newest channel on the Wii, Everybody Votes. That’s unfortunate, since there is a lot of potential in this feature, if Nintendo decides to use it in a way that truly benefits the users.

Today, I checked out the results of the first vote. I couldn’t help but giggle when Nintendo presented how my prediction stacked up against the actual result. It’s so cute and whimsical with an element of anticipation.

As a side note, when I did the system update to prepare my Wii for the new channel, the update stopped at a fraction of the status meter. I didn’t know what to do. The instructions were clear not to turn off the power. I thought maybe if I let it run for a while it will complete itself so I watched some tv. However, the status indicator did not budge after over an hour. I did some searching and found that it’s okay to turn off the power. So I held down the power button to turn off the Wii. Then I turned it back on and tried the update again. This time, it was done in less than a minute.
