Today was a work holiday in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I went to see if I could pick up my Wii delivery from shipping & receiving. It wasn't open, as someone had told me it would be. :(

Oh well, at least I could go to Costco on my way home. At Costco, I saw the Logitech Harmony Universal Remote 720. I have eyed the remote before but wasn't sure I'd want to spend that much on a remote, plus I heard such remotes don't do well with DVR systems.

Since I wasn't able to get my Wii to play with on my day off, I figured I'd treat myself to a new toy.

I was pleasantly surprised that it was able to program each of my home entertainment system devices. The cool thing about this remote is that the information is online and downloaded to my computer and sent to the remote via USB, so all device info is up-to-date.

I was even able to program 30 second skip button for the DirecTV DVR. It was a challenge, but it worked! Yay!

With my system setup, I sometimes need to turn on 3 separate devices and then change their inputs accordingly. The remote organizes things into Activities. Now, all that button-pushing is narrowed down to one push.

The remote has a rechargable battery, so that's another cool feature.

If you get this, make sure to read the instructions. I didn't, and ended up doing things out of order. :P
